Depression Cure Help
Depression is when being sad turns into an unstoppable despair that does not go away. It continues for days, months or even years, taking over a person's life and preventing him from enjoying time with family and friends. Depression is when hobbies or other things that you used to enjoy doing no longer interest you. Although some people may think that depression is not a serious condition, it can actually be fatal to anyone experiencing it. This is why he or she will need help for depression.
Symptoms
Depression is different from the usual sadness that you feel when things go wrong. Some depressed people refer to depression as sadness because they do not recognize the difference. Depression interferes with a person's ability to have fun, study, work or sleep. A depressed person will find it difficult to concentrate, may feel empty or apathetic. Some symptoms of a depressed person include:
Difficulty in sleeping or sleeping too much
Loss of appetite or sudden decrease in appetite
Sudden or very noticeable weight changes
Irritability
Helplessness or hopelessness
Inability to control negative thoughts
Being short-tempered
Confusion
Having suicidal thoughts
Causes
Depression is not an illness-it is a condition that does not have a specific cause, which is why it is very important for a person to get help for depression. Many doctors and experts believe that it is a combination of social, biological and psychological factors. Although it is difficult to determine the exact cause of a person's depression, some of the known causes are:
Financial problems
Genetics
Relationship problems
Stressful experiences
Addiction
Trauma
Health problems
Unemployment
Lack of social support or lack of friends
Depression can be different for men, women, teens and older adults. Women are more likely to be depressed than men, and often because of pregnancy, insecurity, marital relationship and family issues. For men, depression is usually because of lack of self-worth, unemployment and self-loathing. They often become violent, aggressive and reckless. For older adults, some of the usual causes are health problems, loss of a loved one and inability to work or earn money to provide for his needs. For teens, depression is caused by lack of self-esteem, academic problems, being constantly teased by peers and being abused as a child.
Prevention and Cure
The only depression cure is to keep yourself active and surround yourself with friends and family who support and love you. Depressed people usually do not recognize their condition, which leads to being more depressed. A depressed person needs to make a major lifestyle change and start rebuilding relationships, being with friends, talking and spending quality time with family, managing stress, doing away with negative thoughts and keeping the body healthy.
Although many depressed people manage to balance their emotions and build emotional skills, many others lack the skill to cope with their emotions. This is where professional help comes in. A person suffering from depression should be given the needed depression cure, therapy, treatment and medication for complete healing and recovery. If not treated or given attention, depression can be fatal. Depression is often associated with suicide and sudden death. For many depressed people, death may be their only way out. If support from friends and family are not enough for depression cure, professional help is the only solution.
